Diana Wynne Jones (London, 1934) is the author of more than forty novels and one of the leading voices in fantastic literature today. Degree in English Philology by the university of Oxford and as a young man he attended lectures by J. R. R. Tolkien and C. S. Lewis.

In 1977 he published the first part of his series The worlds of Chrestomanci. Nine years later appeared his novel El castillo ambulante, which was made into a film in an adaptation of Hayao Miyazaki, whose story was continued in The castle in the air (1990) and The house of a thousand hallways (2008; Night, 2010).
